Grammy-nominated R&B artist Angie Stone has tragically passed away at the age of 63 after being involved in a car crash, as confirmed by her daughter, Diamond Stone. The fatal incident occurred in Alabama early on Saturday following a performance, when the van she was travelling in overturned.
Angie Stone, known for hits like No More Rain (In This Cloud) and Wish I Didn’t Miss You, had a successful music career that spanned decades. Starting out in the 1970s as part of the female hip-hop trio The Sequence, she later went on to be nominated for three Grammy awards.
Her daughter, also a musician who goes by the name Ladi Diamond, expressed her grief on Facebook, describing herself as “numb” in the wake of her mother’s passing. She had requested prayers for her family just hours before the tragic incident.
Angie Stone’s impact on the music industry was profound, with fellow artist Guy Todd Williams acknowledging her contribution to the rap group Sequence before embarking on her solo career. She was the sole fatality in the crash, which involved nine other passengers.
