The Duke of Cambridge, Prince William, expressed his gratitude to Taylor Swift for a spectacular concert experience, sharing a snapshot of the pop icon taking a selfie with him and his children, Prince George and Princess Charlotte. The future king was captured enjoying the performance at Wembley Stadium, even dancing to “Shake It Off” in celebration of his 42nd birthday.
Taking to Instagram, Prince William wrote, “Thank you Taylor Swift for a great evening,” showcasing his appreciation for the unforgettable night. Taylor Swift reciprocated the sentiment by posting the selfie with William, George, Charlotte, and her boyfriend, NFL star Travis Kelce, with a message, “Happy Bday M8. London shows are off to a splendid start.”
Among the notable attendees of the concert were Prince William’s cousin, Zara Tindall, and her husband, Mike Tindall, alongside celebrities like Bridgerton star Nicola Coughlan and model Cara Delevingne. Even Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer made an appearance, taking a break from his campaign trail to witness the opening night of Swift’s London leg of the Eras tour.
This is not the first time Prince William has shared the stage with Taylor Swift, as they previously performed together with Jon Bon Jovi for a charity event at Kensington Palace in 2013. Swift’s London engagements include three shows at the 90,000-capacity venue this weekend, followed by five more in August.
The city of London has been buzzing with “Taylor-mania” with various events and celebrations surrounding Swift’s presence. From a specially redrawn Tube map to her hit song playing at Buckingham Palace, the capital is captivated by the singer’s visit. It was also revealed that Swift’s fans are expected to contribute significantly to London’s economy, with an estimated £300m boost from nearly 640,000 attendees across the eight Eras Tour dates.
