Shiloh Nouvel Jolie-Pitt, daughter of Hollywood A-listers Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, has taken legal action to drop Pitt from her name. The 18-year-old submitted a petition to a Los Angeles court on her birthday to officially become Shiloh Jolie.

The legal request comes amidst the ongoing divorce battle between Jolie and Pitt, who have been separated since 2016. The couple has yet to finalize details of their separation, including a settlement agreement. They are also embroiled in a legal dispute over Chateau Miraval, a French winery they co-own.

Shiloh is the third-eldest of the former couple’s six children and the first to formally seek a name change. Her sister Vivienne recently dropped their father’s last name in a Playbill programme, while eldest daughter Zahara introduced herself as Zahara Marley Jolie in a video from her time at Spelman College.

The divorce drama between Jolie and Pitt escalated in 2016 when Jolie accused Pitt of physically and verbally abusing her and their children. Pitt denied the allegations, but the pair has been engaged in a custody battle ever since. In 2021, Pitt was awarded joint custody of their children.

In addition to custody disputes, Jolie and Pitt have also filed lawsuits against each other over property and business ventures, including Chateau Miraval. Pitt sued Jolie for allegedly selling her share of the winery without his consent, while Jolie accused Pitt of preventing her from selling her shares unless she agreed to a non-disclosure agreement.

Amidst these legal battles, Shiloh’s decision to drop Pitt from her name adds another layer of complexity to the ongoing feud between her famous parents.
