German bodybuilder Kevin Gebhardt tragically passed away at the young age of 31, just weeks after undergoing serious knee surgery.
Known as a beloved athlete and an up-and-coming coach, tributes have been pouring in from the heartbroken bodybuilding community for the International Federation of Bodybuilding & Fitness (IFBB) pro.
On April 26, Gebhardt informed his followers on social media that he was recovering at home from knee surgery through an Instagram post stating: “Time heals all the breaks!”
Although the official cause of death has not been disclosed, reports indicate that he passed away on Sunday.
At the age of 14, Gebhardt developed a passion for bodybuilding, following in the footsteps of his beloved uncle by starting to lift weights.
In 2018, Gebhardt achieved his best finish at the EVLS Prague Qualifiers event. He went on to secure top 10 placements in various competitions, including the 2021 Yamamoto Cup Pro, 2021 Egypt Pro, and the 2021 EVLS Prague Pro.
He was not only a successful competitor but also a promising coach and mentor to young athletes in the bodybuilding community.
Regan Grimes, a fellow bodybuilder, expressed his condolences to Gebhardt’s family by writing on social media: “RIP Kevin.”
Prolific bodybuilding coach Milos Sarcev, a close friend of Gebhardt, shared his grief by stating: “We have lost another brother of iron. I knew Kevin since his amateur days in 2018… [Gebhardt] was a super sweet person, super passionate about bodybuilding, and very hard worker.”
