“To our wonderful farm community, Eric’s sister Alice Stewart passed away suddenly Friday night. We are heartbroken. Thank you for keeping Eric, Andrea, and Heather in your prayers,” she wrote on Instagram.
Stewart began her career as a local TV anchor before transitioning into politics, where she became a communications director for former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee.
She worked on various political campaigns and eventually joined CNN during the presidential campaign in 2016.
On Saturday, CNN released a statement expressing their sorrow over Stewart’s passing.
CNN Chairman Mark Thompson mentioned, “Alice was a friend and colleague to all of us at CNN. A political veteran and an Emmy Award-winning journalist who brought an incomparable spark to CNN’s coverage, known across our bureaus not only for her political savvy, but for her unwavering kindness.
