Late Nollywood legend Mr Ibu to be buried on June 28 in Amuri

The late Nigerian actor, John Okafor, popularly known as Mr Ibu, will be laid to rest on June 28 in his hometown of Amuri, in Nkanu West Local Government Area of Enugu State.

The family of the beloved actor has announced that the funeral rites will span five days, with various events leading up to the burial.

A march in his honor will take place on Tuesday, June 25, followed by a candlelight procession and an evening of live entertainment on Wednesday, June 26.

The wake-keeping ceremony will be held on June 27 at his compound in Eziokwe Amuri, Nkanu West, with the burial and funeral service scheduled for June 28.

The family expressed their gratitude for the outpouring of love and support, inviting family members, friends, and well-wishers to join them in bidding farewell to their beloved icon. Mr Ibu passed away on March 2 at the age of 62 after battling illness for several months, ultimately succumbing to cardiac arrest.

Known for his iconic roles in over 200 Nollywood movies, Mr Ibu gained fame with the 2004 film “Mr Ibu” which showcased his comedic talents and garnered him a large following. His unique ability to make audiences laugh without speaking earned him praise from his peers in the industry.

Throughout his career, Mr Ibu starred in a multitude of movies, including “Coffin Producers,” “Husband Suppliers,” and “Ibu in London,” among others.
