The Ghana Police Service has taken legal action against three individuals who allegedly shared an intimate video of popular broadcast journalist, Serwaa Amihere.
The accused persons have been identified as Edem Saviour Ketti, a filmmaker; Candylove Kwakyewaa Ababio, a trader; and Henry Amponsah, also known as Henry Fitz.
They are facing charges related to sexual extortion and the intentional distribution of an intimate visual recording of Serwaa Amihere. These charges include conspiracy to commit a crime of non-consensual sharing of intimate images, as well as sexual extortion under the Cyber Security Act 2020.
The controversy arose after a video showing Serwaa Amihere in bed with a man, later identified as Henry Fitz, circulated on social media. It was speculated that the video was filmed in 2019, before the man got married.
According to reports, Serwaa Amihere’s makeup artist received a call demanding a payment of GH₵5,000 to prevent the release of nude photos. Despite complying with the demand, a second threat of GH₵20,000 was made, and the video was still shared after the payment.
Following the incident, Serwaa Amihere reported the case to the police, leading to the arrest of Edem Saviour Ketti. Investigations revealed that the accused individuals were involved in the extortion and distribution of the video.
Efforts are ongoing to apprehend Henry Fitz, who is currently evading arrest. The police are continuing their investigations into the matter.
