British pop sensation Lily Allen recently opened up about the challenges of balancing motherhood with her music career.

In a candid interview on the Radio Times podcast, Allen humorously admitted that while her children “complete” her, they also “totally ruined” her career.

When questioned about how becoming a mother affected her career strategy, Allen replied, “I never really have a strategy when it comes to career, but yes, my children ruined my career.” She jokingly added, “I mean I love them and they complete me, but in terms of pop stardom, totally ruined it.”

Allen went on to express frustration with the notion that women can “have it all,” highlighting the difficulties of trying to balance a successful career with raising a family. She acknowledged that while some people prioritize their careers over their children, she made the decision to focus on her daughters to ensure they didn’t experience the same absence she felt growing up with “quite absent” parents in the entertainment industry.

The renowned singer, who is now based in New York City with her husband, “Stranger Things” actor David Harbour, has found success in her music career, particularly in the UK, with chart-topping hits and a Grammy Award nomination for her debut album “Alright Still.”

Allen believes that prioritizing her children has resulted in raising well-rounded individuals, despite the challenges it may have posed to her career.
