The recent Bochum vs. Leipzig match turned disastrous for Moritz-Broni Kwarteng, a German-born Ghanaian footballer, after a foul on Leipzig’s Loïs Openda resulted in a suspension and a serious injury for Kwarteng.
The 25-year-old striker suffered a partial tear of the medial ligament in his knee due to a rough tackle during the game.
As a consequence, Kwarteng is now set for an extensive period on the sidelines, missing the remainder of the season. Bochum has confirmed that the injury will require at least a week’s rest, prolonging his absence from the team.
The team will have to cope without Kwarteng for the upcoming matches, a blow to their offensive lineup.
Following the injury and subsequent suspension, VfL Bochum has decided not to challenge the disciplinary decision. Instead, the focus will be on aiding Kwarteng in his recovery and devising new strategies for the matches ahead without one of their key players.
This season, Kwarteng has made eleven appearances and contributed with one assist in the Bundesliga.
