The Zambian national women’s team, also known as the Copper Queens, has arrived in Ghana and is gearing up for a highly anticipated match against the Black Queens in the 2024 Olympic Games qualifier.
Midfielder Ireen Lungu, who is one of the experienced players in the Zambian team, has expressed her determination to secure victory against Ghana. Lungu, who currently plays in Kazakhstan, emphasized the team’s readiness and preparation for the important clash.
“Everyone is ready, and we have been pushing ourselves. The league has helped us a lot, so I think everyone is in good shape. The first match in Ghana is important because if we get the three points, then we are good to go. Our aim is to win in Ghana,” Lungu stated.
Despite acknowledging the pressure that comes with such matches, Lungu highlighted that the only pressure they feel is the pressure to secure the maximum three points in Ghana.
Meanwhile, the Black Queens of Ghana are also determined to make history by securing their first-ever appearance at the Olympic Games. Under the guidance of Swiss trainer Nora Hauptle, the Ghanaian women’s national team has been in fine form and is ready to face the challenge posed by the Copper Queens.
The stage is set for an intense showdown between the two teams as they both seek to claim victory and take a step closer to Olympic qualification. The Accra Sports Stadium will be the venue for what promises to be a thrilling encounter between the two African nations.
