Mali captain Hamari Traore banned for four matches after confrontation with referee.

The Mali captain, 32-year-old Hamari Traore, has been handed a four-match ban following his confrontation with the referee after his team’s quarter-final defeat by Ivory Coast at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.

Traore was sent off straight after the final whistle for unsporting conduct towards the referee, Mohamed Adel from Egypt. It was reported that Traore had to be separated from the referee by his teammates as they lost 2-1 after extra time.
