The Ivorian Football Association has announced the appointment of Emerse Fae as the new Head Coach of the Ivory Coast senior national team.
Fae, who previously served as the assistant coach to Jean-Louis Gasset, took over the Elephants on an interim basis midway through the 2023 AFCON after Gasset was fired.
Despite the odds, Fae led the Ivory Coast to their third title by beating Nigeria’s Super Eagles 2-1 in the final, marking a significant achievement for the team.
The 40-year-old coach was part of the Elephants side that lost the 2006 AFCON final against Egypt and described his success in the 2023 edition as personal ‘revenge’ for his career.
Fae’s next challenge will be to defend the title at the 2025 AFCON in Morocco and return the Elephants to the FIFA World Cup for the first time since 2014.
This appointment marks an important milestone for Ivorian football and brings renewed hope and ambition for the future of the national team.
