Ghanaian forward Abdul-Aziz Yakubu made his mark for Rio Ave in their recent Portuguese top-flight league match against FC Famalicão.
The 25-year-old managed to convert a penalty early in the game, securing the only goal for his team in a 2-1 defeat on Friday night.
This goal marked Yakubu’s first for Rio Ave since his return from a loan spell with Wuhan Three Towns in the Chinese Super League.
The Ghanaian striker gave Rio Ave the lead by skillfully converting a penalty with a right-footed shot to the bottom left corner.
However, Rio Ave’s lead was short-lived, as Jhonder Cádiz swiftly restored FC Famalicão’s advantage with a close-range header to the top left corner.
Jhonder Cádiz then sealed the victory for FC Famalicão with another header after the hour mark, this time assisted by Sorriso’s cross from the centre of the box.
Since returning from his loan spell, Abdul-Aziz Yakubu has managed to find the back of the net twice in six matches in the Portuguese league.
