The Member of Parliament for Tamale North, Alhassan Suhuyini, has expressed his disappointment with the performance of the Black Stars at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations. He criticized the team for their poor showing in Ivory Coast, where they failed to secure a single victory.
During a session in parliament, the sports minister presented the budget of 8.5 million dollars for the national team, prompting Suhuyini to voice his concerns about the team’s performance.
Suhuyini emphasized that simply participating in the tournament was no longer sufficient to bring pride to the nation. He described the Black Stars’ early exit from the Africa Cup of Nations as a disgrace, considering Ghana’s reputation in football.
Ghana’s failure to advance to the Round of 16 came after finishing third in a group that included Cape Verde, Egypt, and Mozambique. The team suffered a 2-1 defeat to Cape Verde and managed back-to-back 2-2 draws against Egypt and Mozambique, sealing their elimination from the competition.
