The Majority Leader in Parliament, Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu, has joined the call for a new coach for the Black Stars after Chris Hughton was sacked.

The Ghana Football Association terminated the contract of the former Premier League manager and the entire technical staff of the national team due to their poor performance at the just ended 2023 Africa Cup of Nations. Ivory Coast emerged as winners of the tournament.

The football governing body is currently in search of a new coach to take charge of the national team.

However, Kyei Mensah Bonsu has expressed his opposition to the appointment of an already established coach for the Black Stars, stating that they do not add value to the team. Instead, he believes that focusing on up and coming coaches can help in building a solid team for the national side.

He emphasized the need to give young coaches the opportunity, as it has been done in the past.

The Ghana FA has received over 500 applications for the vacant Black Stars coaching position.
