Country music legend Toby Keith, 62, passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with stomach cancer.
His family announced his death and asked for privacy. Keith first revealed his diagnosis in June, declaring that he had been undergoing grueling chemo, radiation, and surgery and was doing relatively well.
About a year later, Keith felt optimistic about his prognosis despite his continuing concerns. Despite his turbulent cancer treatment, Keith kept a positive outlook and expressed gratitude for the support he received from his wife, the one “being the ‘best nurse’ he could have.”
Born and raised in Oklahoma, Keith rose to prominence in the 1990s and his most recent album, “100% Songwriter,” dropped in November.
He is survived by his wife and three children.
