The Ministry of Youth and Sports has expressed its condolences for the passing of former Youth and Sports Minister, Dr Mustapha Ahmed.
In a press statement, the Ministry recognized Dr Ahmed’s dedicated service during his tenure as the Sports Minister. Despite serving the shortest period in the Sports Ministry, Dr Ahmed made a significant impact.
The Ministry also conveyed its deepest condolences to the family and assured them that their prayers and thoughts are with them during this difficult period of grief.
Dr. Ahmed passed away on Wednesday, February 7, at the age of 63. He served as the Member of Parliament (MP) for the Ayawaso North Constituency from 2001 to 2016.
Appointed as the Youth and Sports Minister by former President John Mahama in 2015, Dr. Ahmed held the position until January 2016 when he was replaced by Edwin Nii Lantey Vanderpuye in a cabinet reshuffle.
It is indeed a loss for the country, and Dr. Ahmed’s contributions to the field of youth and sports will be remembered and honored.
