In a major development for Ghanaian football, the impact of the “Catch Them Young” referees policy is about to be realized as young referees prepare to officiate matches in the Division One League.
Over the course of four years, more than two thousand young referees have undergone rigorous training and evaluation after being scouted from various football regions across the country.
Through intense training and retraining at both regional levels and the prestigious Technical Centre in Prampram, these aspiring referees have shown dedication and commitment to perfecting their craft as they advanced through the ranks and gained valuable experience.
They have been actively involved in officiating matches at the District and Regional levels, participating in various competitions such as the Division One League Super Cup, the KGL U-17 inter-regional championship, and the Women’s Premier Super Cup, among others.
The consistent performance and adherence to the highest standards of officiating have earned these young referees recognition and respect within the football community.
The “Catch Them Young” referees policy has not only unearthed raw talent but has also provided a pathway for the development and promotion of young officiating talent in Ghana.
