Manchester City’s Kalvin Phillips has joined West Ham United on loan for the rest of the season to boost his chances of playing at Euro 2024.
He aims to get regular first-team football which was lacking at Manchester City, even though he was regularly picked for England’s national soccer team.
As an England international, his participation in Euro 2024 remains a possibility, which is why he made the move to West Ham.
West Ham has the option to make the move permanent at the end of the season.
The 28-year-old midfielder feels that there’s so much to look forward to in the second half of the season for the club and can’t wait to be a part of it.
West Ham aims to qualify for the Champions League for the first time, either through the Premier League or by winning the Europa League.
They currently sit sixth in the table with fifth potentially good enough to qualify for the Champions League this season if English sides perform strongly in European competitions.
Last season’s Europa Conference League winners have also made it to the last 16 of the Europa League.
West Ham coach, David Moyes, expressed his excitement in bringing in a player of Kalvin’s quality to West Ham United and believes he’ll add strength and competition to the squad. The team believes that Phillips will be a great addition to the team.
