The Vice President of the Ghana Football Association, Mark Addo, has reiterated the organization’s commitment to appointing a top-tier leader for the Black Stars amidst high expectations and close scrutiny.
Mark Addo has made it clear that he is dedicated to the task of finding the best talent to lead the senior national team, emphasizing the importance of this decision.
With over 500 applications received, Addo has shared that a thorough selection process is already underway, with a select few candidates being shortlisted for consideration.
The stakes are high as Ghana looks to bounce back from recent disappointments, particularly the departure of former coach Chris Hughton following the team’s underwhelming performance at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
Speaking to Akoma FM, Addo stated, “This is my second time leading a committee to pick a coach, and I can tell Ghanaians that we will hire the best coach for the Black Stars based on the criteria. We received over 500 applications for the job and have shortlisted a handful. We are currently going through them and want to finish by next week.”
He added, “Nobody wants outcomes more than we (the FA), believe me; it just so happens that things don’t always go as planned for various reasons, but we must keep moving forward.”
