German-born Ghanaian winger Jamie Leweling made his mark in VfB Stuttgart’s victory over Mainz 05 on Saturday afternoon.
VfB Stuttgart secured a win with a 3-1 victory at the MHPArena.
Leweling, who started the game, put up a strong performance and played for 62 minutes.
The first goal of the match was scored by Maximilian Mittelstädt with a left-footed shot from the centre of the box to the bottom right corner, with Pascal Stenzel providing the assist.
Then, in the 45th + 5 minute, Leweling found the back of the net with a left-footed shot from the centre of the box to the bottom right corner, once again assisted by Stenzel.
Deniz Undav extended the lead for the team with a right-footed shot from the centre of the box to the bottom left corner, with Anthony Rouault as the assist provider.
Mainz managed to score a consolation goal in the 76th minute through Ludovic Ajorque.
Reflecting on his performance this season, Leweling has made 21 appearances, scored two goals, and assisted two in the German Bundesliga.
As it stands, Union Berlin is currently third on the league table with 43 points after 21 games, while Mainz is 17th with 12 points.
