Antoine Semenyo played a crucial role in Bournemouth’s thrilling 2-2 draw with Newcastle United on Saturday afternoon at St. James Park
The first half was goalless, but Dominic Solanke broke the deadlock for Bournemouth in the 51st minute after an error by Newcastle’s Martin Dubravka.
Just seven minutes later, Anthony Gordon controversially converted a penalty to level the score for Newcastle.
In the 82nd minute, Semenyo delivered a spectacular goal from outside the penalty area, seemingly sealing the victory for Bournemouth. However, former Bournemouth player Matt Ritchie scored the equalizer in the 85th minute, ending the game in a draw.
Despite the draw, Bournemouth has moved nine points clear of the relegation zone, while Newcastle has maintained their position in seventh place in the table.
Semenyo, who recently represented Ghana in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament, has made 22 appearances for Bournemouth this season and has scored four goals.
