Ghanaian medical professionals Dr. Kofi Ablor and Dr. Christiana Baah were among the distinguished attendees at the FIFA Medical Conference 2024, which took place in Boston, USA on February 6th and 7th.
The event brought together healthcare experts from around the world, all driven by their dedication to advancing football medicine. Set against the backdrop of Boston’s bid to host the 2026 World Cup, the conference served as a crucial platform for exchanging insights and fostering collaboration in the pursuit of player health and well-being.
A new shift towards creating a platform for more collaboration between Member Associations was emphasized in the conference, in order to bridge the gap in knowledge-based subject areas.
Various topics were discussed, including spotting head injuries, the FIFA Medical Concussion Protocol, infectious diseases, cardiac screening in youth football, mental health, and other critical areas in football medicine.
Dr. Christiana Baah and Dr. Kofi Ablorh, the Ghanaian delegates, expressed their gratitude to the FIFA Medical team and the Ghana Football Association for providing them with the platform to interact and learn new ways of achieving excellence in football medicine.
They also emphasized their readiness to teach and, put into practice the knowledge gained to positively impact the game of football.
