Thomas Partey’s much-anticipated return to training has hit a snag, with the Arsenal midfielder experiencing a minor setback.

Arsenal coach Mikel Arteta confirmed the news, offering insight into Partey’s current situation after being sidelined for nearly three months due to a persistent muscle injury.

The Ghanaian maestro, who last played for the Gunners on October 24, 2023, has been eagerly awaited by fans as they hoped for news of his recovery.

Regrettably, Partey missed the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) being held in Ivory Coast, marking his first absence from the tournament since his debut in 2016. The midfielder had previously featured in three consecutive AFCON tournaments – 2017, 2019, and 2021.

“Thomas Partey had a little setback a few days ago, unfortunately he’s not available,” Arteta said. “Whether it is a matter of days or weeks, we will see. He felt something again in a very similar area.”

The 30-year-old has made four appearances in the English Premier League this season and will now have to wait before returning to the pitch for the Gunners.
