Former Black Stars midfielder, Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu, has spoken out about the tragic and sudden passing of Raphael Dwamena, describing it as a difficult event that cannot be ignored
Speaking to Citi Sports at Dwamena’s funeral, Agyemang-Badu opened up about how deeply affected he and others were by the loss of Dwamena.
Dwamena, who tragically passed away from a heart condition while playing for Egnatia in Albania, had a promising career ahead of him. Despite scoring two goals in nine appearances for the Black Stars, his career was abruptly cut short due to the heart ailment.
Brighton and Hove Albion had to cancel his contract due to this condition, which required him to wear a defibrillator.
Reflecting on Dwamena’s life and career, Agyemang-Badu expressed his sorrow, stating, “The feeling is not that great for us. It’s not. This is not what we want but…it’s life whichever way it comes, very tough but we need to accept it.”
Dwamena’s goals for the Black Stars came in a 5-0 victory over Ethiopia. His passing is a significant loss to the football community.
