A US-based Non-Governmental Organization, Soccer for Dreamers, has launched a new initiative called Ubuntu Equip Coaching. The project was unveiled at the British Council in Accra on Friday, March 1.

The aim of this initiative is to provide leadership training and personal development to schools across Ghana, ranging from primary to tertiary institutions. As part of the launch event, a training workshop was also held for teachers from over 20 schools to equip them with the skills needed to coach their students.

President of Soccer For Dreams, Sylvia Akwaboah, shared the organization’s motivation behind establishing the coaching initiative. She highlighted the high rate of youth unemployment in the country and emphasized the need to address this issue by offering complementary learning opportunities.

“We thought that we should bring a programme that seeks to target this problem right at its root. So while we have our online academy that helps the youth in terms of building their CVs and interview skills going to the workplace, we thought we should bring complementary learning, personal development, and leadership training right into our schools,” explained Madam Akwaboah.

The Ubuntu Equip Coaching initiative will cater to students in primary, secondary, and tertiary schools, providing them with essential skills and knowledge to enhance their personal development and future prospects. This initiative demonstrates Soccer For Dreamers’ commitment to empowering youth in Ghana through education and mentorship.
