Sergio Aguero, the former Manchester City star, has expressed his willingness to undergo further tests if he intends to make a comeback and play for his childhood club, Independiente.
Aguero’s retirement in December 2021 was prompted by a heart condition that went undetected previously.
Although Aguero has been receiving regular check-ups, his heart specialist has indicated that playing a few minutes would not pose any issues. The footballer humorously mentioned that he is eagerly anticipating a call from Independiente, the club managed by his friend Carlos Tevez.
Tevez, Aguero’s former teammate at City, has extended an open invitation for Aguero to train with Independiente to explore the possibility of a comeback. Despite positive progress in his health, Aguero emphasized that he has not yet received clearance to resume professional training.
Reflecting on his desire to conclude his career at Independiente, where it all began 21 years ago, Aguero stated his initial plan was to join the club for a short period. Aguero and Tevez shared the historic moment of securing Manchester City their first Premier League title during the 2011-2012 season.
Aguero, City’s all-time leading goal scorer, moved to Barcelona after bidding farewell to the English club in 2021. However, his stint with the Catalan team was short-lived due to a heart arrhythmia incident during a match against Alaves. Despite recent rumors of a potential return to the field, Aguero has clarified that no decision has been made regarding his retirement reversal.
