Following the dismissal of Chris Hughton, Serbian coach Goran Stevanovic has shown interest in taking over the reins of the Black Stars.
The decision came after the dismal performance of the team at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast, which led to the sacking of the entire technical team, including the former Premier League manager.
The Ghana Football Association has set a submission deadline of February 2, 2024, for the application of new coaches after parting ways with Chris Hughton last week.
Local media reports indicate that the Serbian tactician has already submitted his application, vying for a second stint with the Black Stars.
Stevanovic previously managed the national team from 2011 to 2012, leading the Black Stars to the semifinals of the continental showpiece.
With a wealth of experience managing clubs like Cukaricki Partizan and Qingdao Jonoon, the 57-year-old is eager to make a return to the Ghanaian national team.
Ghana’s disappointing AFCON campaign saw them exit at the group stage, failing to secure a single victory in their group games. With two draws and a defeat, the Black Stars finished third in Group B, behind Cape Verde and Egypt.
