The President of the South Africa Football Association (SAFA), Danny Jordan, has his sights set on revenge against Nigeria in the upcoming 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
After suffering a defeat to Nigeria in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, the Bafana Bafana are gearing up to face the Super Eagles once again in June during the World Cup qualifiers.
Fueled by the desire to avenge their loss, Danny Jordan has turned his attention to the upcoming World Cup qualifying tie against Nigeria.
In the Africa Cup of Nations, South Africa was unable to advance to the final after a 4-2 penalty shootout defeat to Nigeria, following a 1-1 draw after extra time. Nigeria opened the scoring through Williams Troost-Ekong, who scored from the spot, before South Africa restored parity in stoppage time through Teboho Mokoena.
Speaking to the Bafana Bafana team, Danny Jordan commended their performance, stating, “Your performance is one of the best in many years of our football. You have established yourself now. This Nigerians are coming to us in June in a World Cup qualifiers, we meeting them again.”
Before facing Nigeria in the World Cup qualifiers, South Africa will first take on DR Congo in the third-place match scheduled for Saturday, February 10, 2023.
