The recently dismissed former Ghana goalkeeper trainer, Richard Kingson, has drawn comparisons between coaching the Black Stars and managing a lower division football team.
After being let go along with head coach Chris Hughton’s backroom staff, Kingson expressed his desire to move on to coaching prestigious clubs such as Barcelona, stating that coaching the national team felt like a mundane task compared to his aspirations.
Despite Ghana’s disappointing performance at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, Kingson remains resolute in his coaching abilities, and is eager to take on new challenges.
He emphasized his readiness to move on from coaching the Black Stars in favor of coaching at a higher level.
TV3 quoted Kingson as saying, “We all know it after my 2/3 years of service we all saw it. Coaching Black Stars is like coaching a second or third division.
I want to coach Barcelona because I know I have what it takes to do it so coaching Black Stars is not like something extraordinary.
It is like taking a pen and paper and writing yourself…myself so it is just something common for me to do it.”
