FC Samartex head coach, Nurudeen Amadu, has made it clear that their main goal for the ongoing 2023/24 Ghana Premier League season is not to win the title, but to focus on improving their performance and securing a top-four finish.
This statement comes after a significant victory against Aduana Stars at the Nana Agyemang Badu Park in Dormaa on Monday.
Following this win, Samartex now sits at the top of the league table with 35 points from 18 games played.
Reflecting on their current position, Amadu emphasized that it is premature to talk about winning the league title at this stage.
He stressed that their primary objective is to enhance their performances and aim for a top-four finish in the league standings.
“It’s still early days, and we are approaching each game one step at a time. With several matches left to play, and a few key players injured at the start of the second round, it becomes challenging to make any predictions,” he expressed in an interview with Kumasi-based Akoma FM.
“Our focus is on elevating our game and securing a spot in the top four. While it won’t be an easy task, we are ready to compete and give our best effort to achieve our target,” Amadu added.
Scoring for FC Samartex in the recent victory were Baba Hamadu Musa and Emmanuel Keyekeh.
Up next, FC Samartex will face Nations FC in their upcoming match on Matchday 19 at the Nsenkyire Sports Complex on Sunday, March 3.
