The 34th edition of the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) has drawn close to 2 billion viewers from around the world, according to CAF President Dr. Patrice Motsepe.
The tournament, which began on January 13 in Ivory Coast, has captured the attention of millions with weeks of thrilling football.
As the tournament reaches its conclusion this weekend, Dr. Patrice Motsepe addressed the press and expressed pride in the global viewership of close to 2 billion people.
“We have had close to 2 billion people watching AFCON globally. We should be proud as Africans and the next one will be even better,” Dr. Patrice Motsepe said.
The final match of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations will take place on Sunday, February 11, featuring a West African showdown between Nigeria and the host nation Ivory Coast.
