Ghanaian football legend Michael Essien has sent his congratulations to Simon Adingra, a product of the Right to Dream Academy, for his role in helping Ivory Coast win the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament.
The Brighton player started for the Elephants in the AFCON final on Sunday against the Super Eagles of Nigeria at the Stade Olympique Alassane Ouattara.
Adingra put in an impressive performance, providing assists for Frank Kessie and Sebastien Haller to score in the second half, ultimately leading Ivory Coast to a 2-1 victory and the trophy.
Michael Essien, who is familiar with Adingra from his time at FC Nordsjaelland, shared his admiration for the young player’s performance on Twitter, stating “What a player, Felicitation Simon Adingra.”
Additionally, as a result of his outstanding performances at the 2023 AFCON, Simon Adingra has been recognized as the Young Player of the Tournament for his contributions to Ivory Coast’s success.
