Ghanaian winger Joseph Paintsil reflects on the invaluable experience of facing off against legendary Argentine forward Lionel Messi.
Paintsil recently had the privilege of sharing the pitch with the esteemed Ballon d’Or winner during a Major League Soccer match between LA Galaxy and Inter Miami.
During his debut for LA Galaxy, Paintsil showcased his skills in a commendable performance that ultimately resulted in a 1-1 draw at the Dignity Health Sports Park.
The winger played an instrumental role in setting up his team’s goal in the 75th minute, scored by Dejan Joveljic. However, Lionel Messi came to the rescue of Inter Miami with a late goal in injury time.
Reflecting on the experience, Paintsil emphasized the positive impact of playing against world-class players like Messi, stating, “Playing against Messi and other top players always fuels you to showcase your abilities. Instead of feeling intimidated, it motivates you to prove yourself on the big stage.”
Having recently made the move to LA Galaxy from KRC Genk in Belgium on a lucrative four-year deal as a Designated Player, Paintsil is determined to make his mark in the MLS and continue testing his skills against the best in the game.
