Crystal Palace has announced the appointment of former Eintracht Frankfurt boss Oliver Glasner as their new manager.
In addition, the club’s current position in the Premier League standings is not looking good as they have suffered 10 defeats in their last 16 games.
Glasner, an Austrian, has signed a contract with the club until June 2026 and will be taking charge of the team for their upcoming home game against Burnley on Saturday.
Expressing his delight, Glasner said, “I am very happy to join Crystal Palace. I am looking forward to working with the talented squad, meeting the club’s supporters and experiencing the Selhurst Park atmosphere I have heard so much about.”
Most notably, Glasner led Frankfurt to a Europa League victory during his first season in charge, followed by guiding them to the knockout stages of the Champions League. However, after a 10-match winless run in the Bundesliga, he left the club at the end of the season with 12 months remaining on his contract.
Interestingly, Glasner previously worked with Ghana winger Samuel Tetteh during his time with the Austrian Bundesliga side, LASK, which suggests that he is no stranger to Ghanaian talent.
The news of this managerial change will undoubtedly have an impact on Ghana’s international star Jordan Ayew, who will now be working under Glasner’s leadership.
This managerial shift is a crucial development in Crystal Palace’s campaign, and the club will be looking to improve their performance and secure a higher standing in the Premier League under Glasner’s guidance.
