Ivory Coast midfielder Seko Fofana is looking forward to the opportunity to win the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations against Nigeria.
The two-time AFCON winners are set to face off against the Super Eagles in the final at the Alassane Ouatarra Stadium on Sunday.
Ivory Coast secured their spot in the finals after defeating DR Congo 1-0 in the semifinals. Nigeria, on the other hand, advanced to the final after a thrilling 4-2 victory in a penalty shootout against South Africa, following a 1-1 draw after extra time.
Following the semifinal victory, Fofana expressed his team’s determination to continue working hard as they aim to clinch the title for the third time in their history.
“We are in the finals. We played a lot of difficult games before getting to the finals. We’ve won against DR Congo and are very happy. We are going to work because we have one more game and am sure we are going to win,” he said.
Meanwhile, Nigeria will also be competing for their fourth Africa Cup of Nations title, with their last victory in 2013.
The stage is set for an intense battle as both teams aim to secure the prestigious title in the highly anticipated final showdown.
