Investing in the Ghana Premier League is not financially rewarding, according to Ignatius Baffour-Awuah, the owner of Nsoatreman FC.

Speaking in Parliament during discussions about Ghana’s performance at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, the Minister of Employment and Labour Relations emphasized the need for sacrifice in order to invest in the local league.

Baffour-Awuah stressed the importance of local players being the core of the national team if the Black Stars are to succeed in the future.

“As someone who invests in the game, I have to be honest that it takes courage to invest in football in Ghana because the financial returns are not sufficient,” he said. “People are not attending our matches and the investments made are not being recouped.”

He added, “It takes bold individuals and those willing to make sacrifices to invest in football in Ghana.”
