Patric Pfeiffer, a German-born Ghanaian defender, is set to miss FC Augsburg’s upcoming home game against SC Freiburg due to ongoing muscular issues in his thigh.
The 24-year-old has been dealing with this injury for quite some time, leading to his absence from the squad during their recent match against Mainz.
Reports from the Augsburger Allgemeine indicate that Coach Jess Thorup has expressed doubts about Pfeiffer’s availability for the upcoming fixture, stating, “We’ll do a second shot, but it will be difficult for the weekend.”
Pfeiffer is not expected to return until March 2024. Despite his injury, he has managed to make six appearances and provide one assist in the German Bundesliga this season.
Pfeiffer’s absence could pose a challenge for FC Augsburg’s defensive lineup as they aim to secure a crucial victory against SC Freiburg at the WWK Arena.
FC Augsburg currently sits in 14th place on the league table with 22 points after 22 games.
