Ghanaian football fans were left on the edge of their seats after a scary incident involving national team defender Baba Rahman during the Greek Cup semifinal game between Panathinaikos and PAOK on Wednesday night.
Rahman clashed with an opponent in the 115th minute of the match, leaving him unconscious and in need of immediate medical attention on the field. Fortunately, he quickly regained consciousness and was able to reassure fans on social media that he is on the road to recovery.
The former Chelsea defender expressed his gratitude for the outpouring of concern and well wishes, and shared that scans have shown no major damage. He also thanked a kind stranger, Georgios Vagiannidis, for personally visiting him in the hospital.
Despite the frightening incident, Panathinaikos prevailed in the shootout, securing their spot in the Greek Cup final with a 6-5 win on penalties.
For Rahman, the focus now shifts to his recovery and getting back to the game he loves. The defender has been a key player for PAOK FC since making the permanent move from Chelsea, contributing three goals and two assists in 18 league matches this season.
