I can’t stand social media insults from people I can feed – Karim Zito

The head coach of Dreams FC, Abdul Karim Zito, has disclosed that he opted not to apply for the vacant coaching position for the Ghana national team due to the fear of social media backlash from individuals he can support.

Zito expressed his concerns about potential negative comments and criticism he could face on social media if he had applied for the role, particularly with Kurt Okraku serving as the President of the Ghana Football Association.

“If I had applied people will say it is because Kurt Okraku is the GFA President that is why I applied. So I decided not to apply at all,” he revealed during an interview with Asempa FC.

He further elaborated, stating, “If you look at it, it’s like anything coming from Kurt that thing is not good. Some people will go to the social media, people that you can even take care of them, will talk trash about you and I don’t like that.”

Following the dismissal of Chris Hughton following Ghana’s disappointing performance at the 2023 AFCON, the Ghana Football Association opened up the coaching position for interested individuals to apply. Over 600 coaches submitted their applications by the deadline.

Despite the lapse of the initial three-week period given to the search committee, no official announcement regarding the appointment of a new coach has been made yet.
