Legon Cities and Accra Lions played out a goalless draw at the Sogakope Red Bull Arena in a tense matchday 19 encounter of the Ghana Premier League on Sunday.
Despite several scoring opportunities for both teams in the first half, neither side could find the back of the net.
Tempers flared on the sidelines when Legon Cities’ coach, Paa Kwesi Fabin, was left frustrated after a penalty appeal was turned down by the referee.
As the game progressed, Lions upped their attacking play in the second half, but Legon Cities’ defense held firm, repelling all efforts to breach their goal.
In a late bid to snatch a victory, both coaches made tactical changes, with Legon Cities’ young talent Frank Antwi causing a threat in the dying minutes of the game.
Nevertheless, Lions’ goalkeeper Andrews Owusu showcased his expertise with crucial saves to keep Legon Cities at bay.
Looking ahead, Accra Lions will have their sights set on a midweek clash against Medeama in the rescheduled matchday 18 fixture, while Legon Cities will be regrouping for their next challenge in the Ghana Premier League campaign.
