Ghanaian referees Rita Boateng and Emmanuel Dolagbanou have been chosen as part of the 48 referees from all across Africa who will be officiating at the upcoming 13th African Games. The tournament will bring together the finest talent from the continent in various sports disciplines, with a special focus on football.
Rita Boateng, who will be serving as a center referee, will play a pivotal role in overseeing the Women’s Football event, ensuring that it is conducted fairly and in strict adherence to the rules of the game. Meanwhile, Emmanuel Dolagbanou will be contributing to the Men’s Football event as an assistant referee.
Both Boateng and Dolagbanou have undergone intensive training and have demonstrated exceptional skills in refereeing, which has earned them the opportunity to represent Ghana on the international stage. The continental multi-sport event, which is held every four years, will be played at the Games village in Borteyman, the Accra Sports stadium, the University of Ghana stadium, and the Cape Coast Sports stadium. The Black Satellites will represent Ghana in the Men’s Football competition, while the Black Princesses will compete in the Women’s Football event.
The 13th African Games are scheduled to take place from Friday, March 8 to Saturday, March 23, 2024. It is a great honor for Ghana to have two of its referees selected to officiate at such a prestigious event, and it is a testament to the high level of expertise and talent that exists within the country’s refereeing community.
