Ghanaian midfielder Nikolas Nartey, who was born in Denmark, is set for an extended period on the sidelines as he recuperates from a knee operation. It is highly anticipated that he will not return to action until the start of the new season.
Despite being just 23 years old, Nartey’s absence is expected to be prolonged, as revealed by Stuttgart coach Sebastian Hoeneß. This was disclosed during a pre-match discussion leading up to their upcoming game against Darmstadt 98, which is set to take place on Saturday afternoon.
Hoeneß stated, “Niko is back in Stuttgart and in really good shape,” while also mentioning that the midfielder will be out of action for a considerable period due to cartilage damage. A comeback in the near future is not being considered at this time.
The prevailing expectation is that Nartey “will most likely only get fully involved in the new season. Anything that comes earlier is a bonus,” as stated by the coach, in an effort to manage expectations.
Nartey signed a four-year contract with VfB Stuttgart on 29 August 2019 after moving from FC Koln. During the 2022/23 season, the midfielder made a total of nine appearances in the Bundesliga.
