Ghanaian midfielder Hans Nunoo Sarpei has made a significant move in his professional career, as he has officially signed with Finnish club HJK.
This move comes after Sarpei finalized a 2+1 year contract agreement with HJK. Known for his defensive abilities, the 25-year-old Sarpei joins HJK after spending a considerable amount of time with German club Ingolstadt, where he honed his skills across various tiers of German football since the age of 18.
Sarpei’s suitability for the defensive midfield role was thoroughly assessed during a week and a half trial period with HJK. He participated in intensive training sessions and showcased his abilities in two Liigacup encounters, proving himself worthy of the opportunity.
HJK’s sports director Vesa Mäki praised Sarpei’s midfield prowess, stating, “Hans brings balance to the midfield: Physicality to our pressing play and quality to break the lines both by passing and passing. And of course his experience in Germany’s big leagues will be useful for us in the European games, for example.”
Meanwhile, HJK coach Ferran Sibila expressed confidence in Sarpei’s potential, saying, “He looked good in training already, but we believe that we haven’t seen even close to the best of what he can offer.”
As part of his new journey with HJK, Hans Nunoo Sarpei will wear jersey number 14 as he seeks to make a lasting impact with the Finnish club.
