Ghanaian midfielder Alhassan Wakaso sees red in Portugal

Ghanaian midfielder Alhassan Wakaso received a red card as his team, Leixoes SC, suffered a 2-0 defeat to Santa Clara in the Portuguese second-tier league on Sunday.

Wakaso, 32 years old, was cautioned before the end of the first half of the highly anticipated match and was ultimately sent off in the 33^rd minute.

The home team took the lead through Vinicius Lopes in the 27^th minute, heading into halftime with the advantage.

Santa Clara doubled their lead and ultimately sealed the victory in the 69^th minute with a goal from Safira, who scored from the spot.

Wakaso joined Leixoes in January 2023 and has made eleven appearances in the Portuguese second-tier league since then. His current contract is set to expire in June 2024.
