FC Magdeburg’s German-born Ghanaian defender, Daniel Heber, has revealed the team’s unique approach as they prepare for a crucial showdown against Schalke, a key rival in the battle against relegation.

After a discouraging defeat to Hertha Berlin, Magdeburg is in desperate need of a resurgence to keep their hopes alive in the Bundesliga.

In an interview with Bild, Heber disclosed that head coach Christian Titz has taken a different approach to prepare the team for the upcoming match. Instead of the traditional video analysis, Titz has focused on inner self-reflection, emphasizing the players’ accountability. “We didn’t do any video analysis. It was clear that it was up to us. We know what we have to work on,” Heber explained.

The Ghanaian defender emphasized the team’s unwavering focus on the upcoming match as crucial for their quest for victory. Despite the importance of facing a relegated Schalke side, Heber stressed the need to treat the game like any other and aim to secure all three points. “It’s a special game because Schalke is relegated from the Bundesliga. But it’s also a game like any other, and we want to get three points,” he stated.

He also stressed the necessity for Magdeburg to exhibit consistency throughout the entire duration of the game, rather than sporadic bursts of performance. “We have to show our performance over the entire game,” he added.

Daniel Heber has made 21 appearances in the German Bundesliga 2 this season.
