Ghanaian forward Caleb Ekuban proved to be the hero for Genoa as he scored the winning goal against Lecce in the Italian Serie A’s 22nd matchweek.
Ekuban, 29, entered the game as a substitute at the start of the second half when his team was trailing 1-0 at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris.
With this goal, Ekuban now has two goals and an assist in 16 appearances in the Italian League.
Nikola Krstovic initially gave Lecce the lead with a right-footed shot from outside the box, assisted by Valentin Gendrey, in the 31st minute.
However, Mateo Retegui equalized for Genoa with a header in the 70th minute, and Ekuban secured the victory with a right-footed shot in the 76th minute, assisted by Retegui with a headed pass.
Ekuban’s successful goal sealed a 2-1 win for Genoa.
After an injury-disrupted campaign last season, Ekuban is now enjoying a successful season this term.
