Ghanaian international Laryea Kings has advised the Ghana Football Association to thoroughly assess Manchester United midfielder Kobbie Mainoo before making any decisions about bringing him into the national team.

The 18-year-old player has been gaining attention after participating in 9 Premier League matches and scoring one goal.

“It’s important to consider how Manchester United is utilizing him, and then evaluate our current team to see if he would be a good fit or not,” Kings stated.

“For instance, the Spanish team has many players who are excelling in their club teams, but they are not called up to the national team because their playing style may not align with the national team’s strategy,” he pointed out.

Following the dismissal of head coach Chris Hughton after Ghana’s disappointing 2023 Africa Cup of Nations performance, the GFA is currently without a coach.

The GFA has formed a committee to select a new head coach within four weeks, although this decision has faced criticism from many people.
