The General Secretary of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Prosper Harrison Addo, has publicly apologized to sports journalist Saddick Adams following the GFA’s decision to block Adams from its official social media platform.

Addo addressed the controversy surrounding the GFA’s action on Twitter and acknowledged the mistake, stating, “This was an error and was corrected immediately it came to our attention. Apologies for the mishap,” in a tweet.

Adams had publicized the notification indicating that he had been blocked from accessing the GFA’s social media page, coinciding with his announcement to lead a demonstration on February 14 to protest the poor state of football in Ghana.

The planned “Save Ghana Football Demonstration” has gained the support of veteran sports journalists, including Veronica Commey and Patrick Osei Agyemang, in response to Ghana’s disappointing performance at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Cote D’Ivoire. The Ghanaian national team, the Black Stars, were eliminated from the tournament in the first round without securing a single victory.

Adams, alongside Commey and others, has been vocal in addressing the mismanagement of football in Ghana, particularly following the early exit of the Black Stars from the AFCON. Their efforts have amplified the calls for reform within the football administration of the country.
