The Member of Parliament for Nsawam Adoagyiri, Frank Annor-Dompreh, has expressed his concern over the Ghana Football Association’s handling of the Black Stars.

During a session at the Parliament House on Wednesday, Annor Dompreh criticized the performance of the Black Stars at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast, labeling it a disaster-class.

Annor Dompreh has urged the government to intervene in the revival of the Black Stars, acknowledging that there is a need for reforms in the senior national team’s management.

He emphasized, “All of us must be humble enough and accept that there is something wrong with the handling of our senior national team, the Black Stars; there is something definitely wrong with them.”

“I agree that there should be some reforms, but we must be specific on what we want to do even if we have to interfere and attract the sanction of FIFA. If we have to do it to safe guard the sport, we have to do it.”

Ghana’s disappointing performance in the tournament saw them miss out on a place in the Round of 16 after finishing third in a group consisting of Cape Verde, Egypt, and Mozambique.

The Black Stars suffered a 2-1 loss to Cape Verde and managed back-to-back 2-2 draws against Egypt and Mozambique, leading to their elimination from the tournament.

For the second successive tournament, the Black Stars exited at the group stages without registering a win, prolonging the country’s wait for its fifth AFCON title to 42 years.
